Brew Api for reading Display & Controlling keypad

Forums:

hello Everybody,

i am trying to use Brew for testing mobile phones . I am using BTIL to communicate and send commands to the phone via USB.
I would like to know the Brew API which can help me to read the text on display I looked over the Idisplay where i can write some text on the display but unfounately could not find to read the display. I would also like to know how can I control the keypad of the phone using BTIL from a pc for e.g to dial a number.

thanks a lot in advance.

regards
sandeep.

The device display is represented as a bitmap. You'll need some way to extract text from the bitmap image, there's no way you can "read" the text as a string.
You should be able to send key events in BTIL without too many problems. Have you looked at the documentation?

So how about reading the title of screens, or reading text controls. Are you saying all text is converted to bitmap when displayed in BREW applications?
Reading text is very important for test automation. Any work arounds?
