App Loader 3 and LG 8500 (Chocolate)

Any tips on getting Apploader to connect with the LG 8500? Drivers are correctly installed, and device manager says I'm connected on Com port 9 but app loader does not see the device? Tried on couple different computers, with USB cable and with Bluetooth. Doesn't work either way.

Make sure you've installed the apploader/BTIL patch available from a link that Max sites in one of the sticky threads in the Tools forum. That cleared up the problem for me.
Good Luck!

Anyone seen any other solutions for the 8500? I had it working before but it is dead now, and I'm sure what's up. I can connect with BitPIM, but not the app loader. It says there is no device detected. I have the BTIL patch.

Bump...
I have the same problem as Alwold. Bitpim works fine, but Apploader says "Error - Could not detect any devie with the specified device id." I also installed Max's patch.
I am using the USB driver/cable from the Music Essentials kit.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I feel pretty stupid, in my case I was using the wrong serial port. When you plug in the LG phones, two ports appear. I was using the wrong one via the apploader, but bitpim was smarter and picked one automatically that worked. If you go into device manager, you should see two, make sure you try both.

I'm also seeing this problem. I have the BTIL patch and can't connect to phone on any COM port. I can connect with other phones ok (ie RAZR and Samsung A930). Drivers are installed successfully. I can see COM 6 is the port being used by the LGE CDMA Serial Port in Device Manager.
This worked once, but not anymore. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Required the Microsoft solution... reboot PC.

I am unable to connect to the LG VX8500 (Chocolate) using the BREW App Loader.
I am running AppLoader Version 3.1.0.34 with:
- QCOMOEM.dll 3.1.1.05
- BTIL 1.0.1 with the 1.0.1U01 patch installed (+ updated INI file)
I am using the data cable and USB driver from the VCast Music Essentials Kit for the VX8500. I am able to load apps to a Motorola RAZR (V3M) using AppLoader, and I can read and write to my VX8500 using BitPim.
When I attempt to connect to the Chocolate with App Loader, I get a error message indicating that it "could not detect any device with the specified device id".
Moreover, after the first time App Loader fails to connect, it mangles the COM port list. For example, COM10 in the dropdown menu becomes "COM10w" or "COM10l".
This defintely seems like a bug.
I've tried all tips mentioned in the posts above, but I've had no success. If anyone has found a solution, please PM me.
Thanks.

I saw the COM port thing too, but then I reinstalled the drivers through the device manager as I wasn't convinced I did it right the first time since I didn't realize there were 3 drivers. Although it didn't ask for the typical Microsoft reboot, I couldn't get it to work until I did.

jdemmel,
The 3 LGE drivers I've verified installed on my machine are:
1. Modem driver
2. USB COM port driver
3. USB controller driver
I've power cycled my PC.
I've attempted to update my drivers through device manager (but, no newer versions were found).
Did you get your drivers from the Music Essentials Kit, or did you get them from another source? Also, do you have USB drivers for other handsets on your machine?
Thanks.

Yes, I got the drivers through the kit. Yes, I have other drivers on the PC (Samsung-A930).
Sorry, the only other thing I can tell you is that since I saw the weird COM thing and I had other drivers on the box, I didn't trust my first install and reinstalled via device manager.
Good luck.

I found something very interteresting.
It appears that the AppLoader has a problem handling 2 digit COM port numbers.
AppLoader kept failing with the above mentioned behavior when I assigned to COM Ports 10 ~ 15.
But, after cleaning up a few unused COM Ports and assigning the Chocolate to single digit COM ports, all my problems have gone away...

I'm betting you had another sort of conflict going on and clearing up the ports fixed it. Apploader has always worked fine for me and I have nearly 40 different COMs (30 with double digits) for various phones at this point. But I am glad to hear you got the connection working.
