ICAMERA_RecordMovie on KX2

Forums:

hi,

i just want to know... whether KX2 supports MPEG playback using...AEECLSID_MEDIAMPEG4 or not.

I tried working on the emulator... it returns ECLASSNOTSUPPORT value...
i don't have a KX2 device to check it..

please tell me...

thanks,

If it doesn't say it's supported in the DDS, you should assume it's not supported.

Hi,
i am trying to develop a simple video player using BREW 2.1 on Kyocera KX2 phone. Please tell what video format is supported by BREW 2.1 on this KX2 device.
Note 1 : When i record a video (using OEM's Camera application), that file is saved in .3g2 format. But i dont see any classid like 3G2 supported by BREW.
Note 2: When i try to instantiate AEECLSID_MEDIAMPEG4 class, i get an error like "ECLASSNOTSUPPORT".
Please tell how can i make a video file to be played on this device. Is it the only way to write my own codecs? Then in that case , would i need an AMSS license? Or if i write my own codec as some extension, will that work- ? as i think, these codec support should be available on the chipset.
your input will be of great help. If it is fast, it will be great ,great help !
Thanks,
~Naren

Yes, you would need to write your own codec if the phone doesn't support MPEG4 decoding already.

Hi Men,
Have anyone tried recording movie on KX2 using Brew? Iam successful in capturing the image on the device. But when i try to record movie using ICAMERA_RecordMovie(), the applicaion crashes in the simulator. And please inform what movie formats are supported on this device. I think MPEG support is not there, which means i have to implement some 3rd party codecs. Iam using Brew ver 2.1
Thanks

Refer to the DDS.
ICamera_RecordMovie() is not supported on this device. You can tell by calling ICAMERA_IsMovie().

I don't know what build you're using on your device, I haven't seen any that return success for CAM_PARM_IS_MOVIE. I'd suggest you open an SR for this question, since it'd likely device-specific.
