Can Actors run in the background

Can an Actor reliably fire up in the background on some system events like receiving SMS without Trigplayer actually running the associate Trig in the foreground?

How can I test this?

Actors are BREW extensions and run in the context of the instantiating applications. BREW extensions can't register for notifications.

What if it is a BREW directed SMS for which no registration is required and received as EVT_APP_MESSAGE event ?

Did you ever hear back about the evt_app_message, or try it out? How would you register the evt handler?
