BREW UI Widgets (BUIW)

Forums:

I am embarking now on wrapping our BREW applet in a UI.
The applet currently uses graphics primatives and keypress traps to simulate basic softkey menus.
The BREW UI Widgets (BUIW), formerly BREW UI Toolkit (BUIT) is available for download and install from the Developer extranet website up to BUIW v1.3.2.06.
I downloaded and installed this version from here:
https://brewx.qualcomm.com/brew/sdk/authdownload.jsp?page=dx/tools/buiw/archives/1.3.2

Future versions of BUIW between v1.3.3, v1.4.2 and the apparently current version v2.x are blocked to the Developer Extranet. Qualcomm states that "Currently BREW UI Widgets is exposed to all OEMs in the OEM extranet website and will soon be available to all developers in the Developer extranet website."

My questions are as follows:
1. Is this a solid UI framework for to use in updating my BREW applet? Or, should I consider another package including uiOne?
2. Should I make an effort to use the current version of BUIW instead of the available version BUIW v1.3.2? i.e. When is "soon"?

- Thanks, David

1. Yes, BUIW is a good framework for writing UIs. It's very flexible.
2. The BREW website will only let me access the latest version of widgets if I capitalize my username correctly when I log in. Don't ask me why. So try capitalizing it in various ways until you find a combination that lets you in.
