Err connection Moto w362

Forums:

Hi
While connecting Motorola w362 to the system i'm also getting the error:
ERROR: either could not detect device with specified device id or could retrieve device info from specified device"

More so, when connecting to the BTIL Client Installer, its not able to connect giving the error:
"BTIL is on the device but didnt respond"

Tried to connect with a diff port but there are only 2ports in the drop down:
com4 - this is the diag ports
com3 (motorola USB modem) - this is the BTIL port

any suggestions??
Also if anyone can provide pointers for step-by-step guide for connecting a device and porting any application therein.

regards
vivek

Did u install the MOTO device pack that comes with the phone?
This would be in the CD that must have come with the device.
Just check

Ya only after installation the device was detected.
The issue is 'm able to connect using the legacy OEM interface but not the BTIL.
One more observation:
When connected to WinXP (using OEM interface) 'm able to copy all files to the device
but when i connect it to WinVista 'm not able to copy *.mod files it gives out an error:
"File could not be read from PC"
I'm planning to manually install the BTIL in the device but 'm not sure what version of client files to be used. Any pointer as to how to determine the correct BTIL version??
How can we get the Firmware version: is it the sw version or the PRL version???

Even I faced the same issue when building from Vista or putting MOD files when the device is connected in Vista.
What I did was - Since I was building in XP and copying the files through Vista, I removed the shared folders from my Vista Machine. Also I restarted the maching once, after that I was able to put the files on to the device.
You can try this - Hope it helps.

Hi Viviek
Sorry for the late reply. Didn't see the thread.
I haven't checked the BTIL interface, I am using a Virtual Machine from which I was buidling the project(there tool suit is not working properly) so I will check it out and then tell you.
