sampleposdet on LG VX8300

Forums:

Hi all,

I tried to run sampleposdet on LG VX8300, when using default setting for PDE server, I got "0" values for GPS info.
and when I set PDE server as below:
PDE IP Address: 66.174.95.132
PDE Port number: 8888
I got error msg of "ABORTED 0x15" when trying to read GPS info...

I have voice and data plan and VZNav downloaded on the phone, though when I run VZNav, it complained about the low phone resource and cannot start the program... Does this affect the GPS reading?

Many Thanks
Jean

Got it working now, though I'm not sure whether it's because of VZNav or other changes...
Does it actually require VZNav in order to read GPS info. in my app? I wonder what would happen if I cancel my VZNav now...
Thanks,
Jean

the GPS settings are not dependent on VZNav.

the GPS settings are not dependent on VZNav.

I do hope the GPS doesn't depend on VZNav, but I've heard that Verizon lock the GPS unless VZNav is installed on the phone.
Also, I noticed a very weird thing, after power-cycle my phone, I need to run VZNav before I can get anymeaningful data on SamplePosDet...
Is anyone able to get GPS data w/o doing anything with VZNav? Thanks!!

Hi all,
I'd like to talk with some VZW person for the GPS v.s. VZNav issue, what would be the best contact? thanks a lot!

It may be possible that VZNav does some settings - after which GPS starts working.
Did you see this on any other devices.
For VZN i am not sure, but you may contact QC at

thanks.

I haven't tried it on other handsets... so did you have sampleposdet worked on other devices w/o running (or even installed) VZNav?
Thanks much!

I am trying to get the GPS location on VZ Motorola V3M.
I didnt get even a single locaiton fix. I tried setting the PDE IP as 66.174.95.132 and port 8888 and also added the LOCATIONSERVER as the dependencies in my mif.
But of no use sampleposdet is not giving even a simple locaiton (even with default PDE).
Same sampleposdet i tried on
USCC LG UX280
USCC LG 220
Metro LG MN240
But in vain. Is there anything i am missing ?
I would appreciate your tips.

Looks like handset provisioning issue.

Looks like handset provisioning issue.

It means my ph numbers has to be whitelisted on the Qualcomm PDE ???
If yes. Please point me to the link where i can get the process "how to whitelisting the phone numbers".

I don't think QC PDE server can be accesed outside QC network. Try provisioing handset with proper PDE.
