Is it possible to programatically simulate an SMS send?

Its possible using TAPI to simulate sending an SMS to the simulator. However that requires manual input which means writing automated test code isn't possible, therefore how can I go about simulating sending an SMS programatically? (it must be possible as the TAPI tool is possible).

In addition to this, is it possible to set up the simulator to receive a real actual SMS?

The Pro Toolkit provides a "simulator construction kit" that presumably allows one to create extensions to the stock Simulation environment.  Problem is, only those deemed to be OEM's by (fabless) Qualcomm seem to be able to acquire the Pro Toolkit.
From a purely technical point of view, if you were able to extend the Simulator you could most likely use the same interface to inject real SMS data into the simulation environment that the GUI pane uses.

It would be good to do this for SMSs and HTTP packets (the software could be run against a real server and SMS and HTTP packets captured in the field, then those could be used in automated test code to give an instant regression test suite, which can be further build upon).
 
Why do people from Qualcomm never answer questions like this on this forum? Is there a paid support service to get some definitive answers?

I see that there is a source package available for the 7.11.2 toolset that contains a lot of the GUI "veneer" source.   Maybe poking around the C# code in there might illuminate some things for you.

ITAPI is a depricated API. You may use loopback SMS for this purpose. If you send a SMS to "1234567890" using ISMS API, it comes back to the Simulator.
