mobile map view, with pins, on Brew MP

Forums:

Hello.

We are looking at a simple store locator app which would show a local map view overlaid with pins. As I understand it there is no built-in map viewer, and also the HTML control supports only HTML3.2, in Brew MP.

Question: What is the recommended best way to achieve this store locator view?

I understand it is possible to invoke a browser on the phone. Would it be possible do this with a mobile mapping service? If so, do Bing or Google Maps still provide an HTML3.2-capable site? And can we be sure of a common browser on all Brew MP devices with a least-common-denominator feature set?

The above is our current intended approach. However, if we could bring down Bing maps tiles in return for long/lat retrieved from the device, and render the PNGs in our own app, that might also do the trick.

Thank you in advance for any creative ideas and suggestions.

Regards,

Matt

the best easiest way would be to dispy a static map with pins & store picture coordinates & point them to full google or bing map urls by opening the external browser with the link.
You may also use bing map tiles for dinamacity.
All BrewMP devices currently have 3rd party browsers & hence it depends on the OEM to agree on the feature sets.
