downloading arbitrary file via BDS/mobile shop

Forums:

Does anybody know, if it is possible to download arbitrary file (a binary format which will be understood by my application) via mobile shop or BDS.

I cannot say for sure that you cannot, but you could do it using sockets. I download a bitmap file under certain cicrumstances and even on the slower services it moves across fairly quickly.

You can include any type of file in your application download package, but cannot download individual files from the BDS.

Downloading Images at runtime & storing as local file
Hi Devi,
Is there anyway we can download and store the images at run time from brew application?
Basically my application requires me to download the images at runtime and keep them till they are required and then delete them and download the new images.
Your reply will be very helpful ,

You can certainly do that. Use either htttp interface (IWeb) or Socket (ISocket) interface to download data and then use file interface (IFile) data to write data into EFS. In your mif you need to have network access and file access permission set. You can write only in your application directory and shared directory.
Unless you are asking something else, which I have missed.
