DBGPRINTF - Logger

Forums:

Hello,

I am debugging an game application code for Brew phone Samsung A690. I am using Brew tools Ver 2.1, Logger to log the events. The logger prints some statements from Brew source code, but does not print any of DBGPRINTF's that I place in code's Eventhandler().

My makefile compiles the file in which this function is present, but when i load the new .mod file into the phone, the DBGPRINTF's dont work.
Please help!

Do you see them in the emulator? Look at view output window or in the output in the debugger if you are using VC++.

Thanks for replying. I cannot work with emulator as I don't have Visual Studio.net
While using DBGPRINTF("print this");
other than the line above , do I have to do anything else, to view it in the logger?
Thanks

MSVC 6.0 also works with BREW SDK. If you want to dump output to a file, (like DBGPRINTF), this thread may be helpful.

Apparetly my application requires me to use Microsoft Visual Studio.net 2003. Has anyone seen this before?
Am just using DBGPRINTF("print this") in my source code. I am using ver Brew Tool Suite 2.1, Logger, but nothing prints to the logger.
thanks

I've also been able to build for the emulator with Metrowerks CodeWarrior 8.0 Pro, which IMHO is a much better IDE than Visual C++, expecially the debugger.

the logger logs output from the phone, for the emulator use something that captures debug output such as

You can see the logger messages in the emulator. In the 1.1 emulator, you can use View/Output Window. You should also be able to see DBGPRINTF's in the output window in Visual C++.

yes we know that, you already said that ;) this is an alternative with a few more features and a few more hooks.

You can also generate emulator DLLs with GNU's gcc compiler. Just be sure to include the flags "-shared -static" in the link step.
