Menu with Background Image

Forums:

Hi,

In my application Iam using a Menulist display.

While displaying I do need to show a background Image.

Iam not sure how to do this..

But I could change the Background color.

Any Suggestions...

Ideas are welcome....

Regards
Shyam

Hello Shyam,
It seems that you are displaying the menu on a background image.
Actually, the imenu control in brew is not transparent i.e. if u display a full screen image and display a full screen menu list then u wont be able to see the image.
You can try for your custom menu control.
Or if you want to display the menu in upper half and the image on the lower half of the screen then it can be done.

Hi, BrewFan.
How do you write a custom menu control? What APIs do you use? A code snippet would be great.
I want to use background bitmaps for IconViewCtl and have corrsponding text. I have a few tabs images I want to use on the top part of the menu, then having text in them. Thank you.

Hi,
I have written my own custom menu list code, so it can display a background image.
I used IDISPLAY_DrawText to show the menu element. Somehow using IDISPLAY_DrawText, the text is not fully transparrent, so the rectangle behind the text is still shown. I might give the same color to the rectangle with my background image, but my background image is not in one color.
Any suggestion to show the text without showing the rectangle behind it?
Oh ya, I have also set the IDF_TEXT_TRANSPARENT option to IDISPLAY_DrawText argument......But got no luck.
Lots of thanks

specify prect as NULL and give proper co-ordinates to display the text ... Done with it!

This should do the trick..
IDISPLAY_DrawText( pApp->m_pIDisplay, AEE_FONT_NORMAL,Menu_Items[i].sItem, -1, 0, yPos, &rRect,IDF_ALIGN_RIGHT | IDF_TEXT_TRANSPARENT );
if there's a picture behind it, the text will be over it.

Hello,
if you create the menu with the photo shop and you will display it as a Image but the thing is that how do you will handle the up and down keys and EVT_COMMAND.
Thanks in advance.
