Hi all,
Is it possible to alter the events sent by the grinder to an app on phone?:confused:

Thanks.

Check the Grinder guide (included with the Tools Suite), it documents using Perl to customize the events sent by the Grinder.

Oh!!!! :)
It is possible by setting "SendCustEvt" to 1 in "*.ini" file.
Thank you people for your replies.

No. It is not working even after setting this
[Custom]
FileName=CustEvt.txt
SendCustEvt=1
SendRandEvt=0
in the config file.
tyndal told to write own perl script.
Then I have to use "SendKey" function .It introduces too much delay.

Not all phones support being driven by The Grinder or the PERL interface.
The Motorola T720 is not supported but I have had success controlling the VX6000 and VX4400 using the PERL interface.
When you say "It introduces too much delay." are you saying the key presses are not fast enough?
You can change the key delay (ms) in a PERL script:
GrinderPl::SetEventInterval(200);

I am working on VX6000 .
If I set "send events from" in the options of the grinder, it is successfully taking events from the specified file.
But when I am trying to do the same using perl script by specifying ,
FileName=CustEvt.txt
SendCustEvt=1
SendRandEvt=0
in the "The Grinder.ini" ,it is sending default events ,not the events specified in the file.Why?
Can any body help me?

Hi,
I have set
FileName=CustEvt.txt
SendCustEvt=1
SendRandEvt=0
directly in the config file.
My perl code includes these lines.
GrinderPl::InitPerlModule();
GrinderPl::LoadSettings(0);
GrinderPl::StartGrinder("COM5");
GrinderPl::ReleasePerlModule();
Some thing wrong?
Waiting for your replies.
Thanks.

Sumana,
You seem to be combining two methods of operation.
As far as I know the CustEvt.txt file is used by the Grinder GUI not the PERL interface. When using the PERL interface you must use: GrinderPl::SendKey() to send key presses to the phone.
I would not recommend trying to control the phone through the Grinder. The GUI is good for randomly pressing keys and logging the results and that is about it.
