Test enabling Japanese phones

Hi

I want to purchase Japanese A5502K. Should I send it to San Diego to test-enable it? Or perhaps there is different way?

zim

I think you can send it to San Diego

I think you can send it to San Diego

im pretty sure you have to be authorized by kddi or work with someone who already is, rather than anyone being able to send in handsets for test enabling.. I also think you send the handsets to kddi or qualcomm japan, rather than san diego..
perhaps a forum moderator could help further.

Thanks a lot for your answers! Looks like I have to ask Qualcomm directly to make sure what to do.

Send it to Qualcomm Japan.

Thanks Mohlendo,
one more question. I am just trying to find any contact to Qualcomm Japan, I have found the website here:
http://www.qualcomm.co.jp/brew/brew.html
but unfortunately I can't read Japanese :-(
Could you direct me where I can find appropriate info? Any contact?

Thanks a lot!
I have contacted BREW support in Japan and they seem to be very helpful.
Anyway, this issue appears to be more complicated than I expected. Basicaly anyone who wants Japanese phones test enabled needs to register as a developer with KDDI, or work with a partner in Japan.
I am just wondering why it is so complicated. Why these phones couldn't be just test enabled in San Diego?

Well, I didn't really, we just found someone who speaks Japanese and will perform the whole process for us...
