Emulator window

Forums:

My BREW emulator always comes up as a full screen window.
This is very annoying as I would like to re-size it and have the system remember the settings for next time.
However, even after I re-size the window, it always come up as a full screen window.
Is there any .ini or register to modify this behavior?

I think by default, the settings are saved in a file called "BREW_Emu.dat"

Are you running Windows XP SP2? Someone else is seeing this problem on that platform:

Emu.dat shows:
[General]
Converted=1
Location=-4,-4,1156,840
which one controls the full screen as opposed to last position and size?
The SP2 update of XP screwed up the VisualC++ and this emulator window.
Even if I manuall changhe the Location, the emulator always comes up as full screen.
I guess Qualcomm needs to update the executable init file according to the new XP update?

some things to try:
* delete the settings file
* provide a settings file as an argument (-f newFile.dat)
* re-install the sdk

Your first suggestion worked.
I suggest to XP users who have upgraded to SP2 to delete the BREW_Emu.dat file.
thanks

Yeah, that works once. Then every time after, I get full-screen again! Ergh!
I've just removed the entire "general" section ("Converted" and "Location") from the BREW_Emu.dat file and set its properties to 'read-only.'
Now the Window appears in an obnoxious location, but at least it's not full-screen and extremely irritationg to resize/reposition.
Guh! This is why I've been using only Linux at home the past 6 years. :^P

I have this stupid problem too. Your solution works but I like to use different emulator files every now and then so It would help if anyone knows a better solution.
I think it has something to do with having two monitors.

i don't use 3.0 emu much, but i do have 3 monitors and i use a program called ultramon, i wonder if that stops me seeing the problem, theres a free trial of it available, plus its a worthy program for mulitple monitor users

I use 2.0
I didn't have this problem before SP2 and a friend at work didn't have this problem until he started using two monitors so somehow I've managed to have the exact combination of variables to screw up brew.
What is ultramon? how do I get it etc.

as i said i don't use 3.0 much, but i do use XP sp2 and have run it and not seen the problem, and i know that ultramon can alter the window layout
however ultramon is worth it for the other stuff it gives you on mulitple monitor layouts

I use the 2.0.1.5 emulator on XP SP2 and have never seen this problem. Not a very helpful post, just wanted to make it known that its not neccesarily a unilateral bug.

the people in my team are all using XP.
After applying the latest patch, problems came.
I am using a single monitor.
I still delete the BREW_Emu.dat from time to time to get rid of the problem.
Did Qualcomm post any comment here?

Is anyone seeing this problem on versions other than 2.0? Even though this thread is in the BREW 2.1 section, I haven't seen anyone explicitly state that they are experiencing this problem on any version other than 2.0.

It also happens on the 2.1 emulator.
I had successfully upgraded my dual-monitor system at work with XP SP2 and the 2.1 emulator worked fine. However, when I upgraded my single-monitor system at home with XP SP2 the emulator started going full-screen all of the time.
The full-screen problem happened immediately after the upgrade, so I'm convinced it's related. I just wish I knew why it is okay at work and not here.

Just in case this has anything to do with it: It's working okay on my system at work using a Radeon card, but always going to fullscreen on my system at home with a GeForce FX card. Maybe it has something to do with the drivers.
I tried downloading the last GeForce drivers but that didn't help. Also, just to confirm, deleting the Brew_emu.dat file doesn't help... and it I can't find ahything in the registry that seems to help either.

Does Qualcomm have any comments or suggestions on this problem?
We have two machines with this same full screen issue. Both are running 2.1 version of the emulator and XP SP2.
We have tried all the suggestions listed here and it doesn't help.
