hebrew text

Forums:

Hello,
how can I display hebrew text on brew devices?

If i paste hebrew text in the Visual C editor i get only question marks.....

Thank you

You have to enable hebrew language support in your Windows system, then use a text editor and type all your hebrew text. Now when you do copy and page it will copy all the hex code in your h/cpp file. In order to show hebrew in your BREW device, you need to have hebrew font support in your brew phone, unless you write your own font rendering extension (using IFONT).

Do you know if Hebrew can be used at a ITEXTCTL ? and how

Once you created your custom IFONT extension to draw HEBREW text, you can call IDISPLAY_SetFont to set your custom IFONT interface to be used by all BREW controls (from that point on).

Ruben, Thanks for the answer
The phone supports Hebrew fonts (through BRI ). but I've been told now by Qualcomm support, that this specific device -TELIT X60 - does not support Hebrew as an input mode for ITEXTCTL.
Any one ever implemented IFONT of it's own ? is it a tedious work?
what about writing from "right to left" , how can you "tell" ITEXTCTL that you're writing the opposite direction ?

It is not that difficult to implement IFONT extension, however it requires some work, there are couple of threads on this topic. For example

I am not sure how well BREW will line wrapping algorithm for right to left text. You have to implement and test it.

Thanks Ruben, we'll have to see if we gonna implement IFONT
