Reading DBGPRINTF output from customized program ?

Forums:

Hi, it's possible to read a cell phone's DBGPRINTF messages from my own application running on a PC ?

Actually, my real question is - "Is it possible for a brew 2.1 application to communicate with an application running on the PC via a Serial/USB cable ?". I know the existance of IPort API in Brew 3.x, but unfortunately it's not available in Brew 2.1.

Thanks!

If you just need to look at DBGPRINTF messages while an app is running on the device, hook up the device to the PC and launch BREW Logger (comes with BREW Tools Suite).
IPORT is available in BREW 2.x (create your iport using AEECLSID_SERIAL). Not all devices support iport but there are a few 2.x devices out there which do. Is there a particular device you are looking at?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I know the existence of BREW Logger, actually I use it everyday for debugging :-). But here I'd like to write my own program running on the PC that could respond differently in "real time" depending on the outputs of my brew application running on the phone. So parsing the log files generated by Brew Logger won't satisfy my requirment.
I'm using v710 at this time, is there a solution for this particular device ?

No, the V710 does not support IPort. You might wanna try LG VX8000. I was able to open an outgoing port from the device to the PC and echo data back from the PC. However, the device does not seem to support opening an incoming port.
