Kyocera KX1 AEE_TM_LETTERS Modes?

Forums:

Hi. Has anyone written an application that uses different text entry modes with ITEXTCTL on the KX1? On most devices it you can set the text control to AEE_TM_LETTERS and then cycles through different multitap modes by issuing AVK_STAR. On the KX1, this doesn't seem to be the case. All it ever does in multitap mode is "Abc", and the modeString returned by GetInputMode appears to be garbage. Is there any way to get this thing to do "abc" or "ABC" mode? What if I wanted to allow a user to enter a capital letter in the middle of a word? I like how the device spec sheet says that it handles text entry identical to the emulator. Yeah right!

[update] I've also determined that the "ezi" mode set with the AEE_TM_RAPID define doesn't seem to work. Anyone else experienced that? When I set it to this mode, none of the keypresses seem to get recognized by the text control (nothing gets put in the buffer). And here's a fun one... if I set the mode to 0xB, it sets to uppercase multitap mode, but I have no idea how to toggle to lowercase.

[another update]The KX5 also seems to have difficulty with my app setting it to AEE_TM_RAPID even though the multitap modes seem to work ok (i.e. to not exhibit the same behavior as the KX1). Anyone had any luck getting the rapid text feature running on Kyoceras?

I'm just bumping this in hopes that someone that knows something relating to the issue I'm having didn't see the post. Thanks.
