Has anyone encountered a wacky bug where appLoader, running under Vista will allow you to upload .bar and .mif and other files that were created via various tools, but will fire a "Error - could not open file from pc" when you attempt to upload a .mod file?

My guess is this has something to do with vista security, and that the file is created by the command prompt running as Administrator. However, I have gone into the file and changed all its permissions as well as copied the file with no attributes and still it simply refuses to move it to the phone.

I am also running xp on the same machine and it has absolutely no problem moving this file to the phone under that OS, so, it's definitely a Vista specific problem.

I find it really annoying having to switch back and forth between OSs just for this process, so, I'm hoping someone will have an answer to this.

i dont think officially apploader (or any brew tools) is supported under vista. better use XP..

it's SOO close to being 100% compatible!
infuriating.

I just experienced this as well--HOWEVER, I was able to successfully load one .mod file on Monday [from my vista machine], then went to load a new file on Tuesday and now keep getting the "could not open file from PC" error now. arg.

I experienced the same problem; all files would copy across fine except my .mod file.
I used the excellent process monitor tool (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx) & saw that there was a sharing conflict on the file with explorer.exe. For some reason explorer keeps the file open all the time.
To fix the problem, kill & restart explorer.exe before you copy the file onto the device. using app loader
