I think you are referring to very old docs.
 
You can use static and global variables in Brew  as well with the use of ELF2MOD utility
There are helper functions for floating point operations in Brew as well.
You cannot use C stand library. brew helper functions are wrappers around C standard library.
Stack much more in recent devices, even Brew devices. See device packs.
Yes, AECHAR (wide char) is Brew/Brew MP specific.
