I am trying to debug on a Pantech Renue via Visual Studio 2008.  When I press the debug button, the project builds fine and loads to the device, but all I get in the Debug output is:

Loaded 'C:\path\to\the\project\amrgcc_Debug\project.elf'

No symbols loaded

The code runs ignoring break points and I can't step through code on the device.

Any help would be  appreciated.

So, after reading that document, I checked my project projerties.  Under debugging I have:
Debugger to launch: Local Windows Debugger
Attach: Yes (also tried No  -- same results)
Debugger Type:  Native Only
Merge Environment: Yes
SQL Debugging: No

The other fields are empty.

I get the same results

Loaded 'c:\path\to\project\amrgcc_Debug\application.elf'
No symbols Loaded

VS title bar reads application(Debugging) but execution doesn't stop at breakpoints and i get no debug messages

Create a new BMP project and re-try.

I tried with a new project but I still get the same results.
Loaded 'c:\path\to\project\Application2.elf'
No symbols loaded
Execution seems to halt at the first breakpoint, but after that I can't send any commands to the debugger.

Is it on simulator? create a new target simulator and then retry.
