Hello, I'm trying to deploy an app to the phone. I have signed the mod and mif files with the app signer, and when I try to copy the files into the phone, I get the following msg: Error - Module signature file is not valid. It contains developer signature.

On the other hand, I generated a test sig file using https://brewx.qualcomm.com/testsig/testsig.jsp using my phone's ESN. I just rename the resulting file to the name of the mod file and I am able to copy the files into the phone.

Now on the phone, which is a samsung infinity, I can see my application, but I also see a small icon like a broken file, and I am not able to load that program.

I'm not sure if I am following the correct process to deploy applications for testing.

thanks

For testing, you need to use test signature and not production signature (generated with AppSigner).

Thanks for your reply. Ok, I'm able to deploy the app into the phone using the test signature, however, on the device, I cannot load the application. I see the app's name with a broken file icon to its left. Why is that happening?

Broken icon displayed if mif doesn't have graphics (icon) added. App not starting, please try to debug the app using Brew Logger. Something might befailing at start-up.

I've been reading on this forum: http://brewforums.qualcomm.com/archive/index.php/t-2246.html that my handset has to be sent to qualcomm so my phone can be test-enabled by them; however, that thread is way too old (09-25-2003).
I'm still having trouble running my app on the phone (samsung infinity). As I mentioned it shows a broken file icon, even if I remove all icons on the mif. On the phone, I select my app, then an options menu shows on the bottom right corner. when pushing the ok button, the cursor moves upward and nothing happens. Also, on the logger I don't see any relevant information regarding the appmanager trying to load my application. On other matters, the test signature is showing an expire date older than today's date, how can I get a newer date?
I appreciate your help. thanks

Test bit enabling is required only for Brew 2.x and below handsets. Again, if handset is not test bit enabled, apps gets erased on reset.
As said earlier, Broken icon is displayed in BAM if there are no graphics in MIF or Graphics are not of proper size. Did you add all the three (small/medium/large) images of proper size? Again, broken icon is not a problem in app start-up.
If test signature has expired, please generate the new test signature from Brew portal.
Can you please provide the Brew logs so that I can help you further with this? Also, mention the classid of your app.
