We want to make use of HTTPS for all our network connections with our server. Nothing out of the ordinary here until we come to this: We want the server to validate the hanset's root cert, not the other way around. My take on https, as posted in a knowledge base article i read, is that i make a call to the secure server and it responds with a cert chain, which the client veifies and accepts (rejects). We don't want our handsets to verify a chain, we just want it to send a cert and the server would be the one accepting or rejecting the connection. Please, if my understanding of what is happening is, in the least, wrong and any of you can correct me, i would really appreciate it. On the other hand, if i am correct in my assumptions, Can we do what i mentioned above? Can i send something for the server to authenticate me (root cert would be best)? Any hints?
