I'm reading  the book "Software development for the Qualcomm Brew platform" and it says this:

"If a call is in place you can obtain the telephone number of ther remote side of the call using the ITAPI_GetCallerID field ..... Typically you can only do this when immediatly originating a call because your application can't run while a voice call is in operation".

The use of English in this sentence is a little confusing (why does the author use the words typically and immediatly) but its saying you can only get the phone number of the remote side if you originate the call.

What about getting the phone number for incomming calls? Is that possible? Of course it must be possible as the device itself must get it to display it to the user before they answer, but is the functionalty to do this exposed to 3rd party developers?
