I'm looking for a way to save media file inside mms repository on lg6000 from BREW applet and make it visible from the My Media menu.

Does anybody knows how to work with MMS in lg6000 or at least who is the developer of it, is it RocketMMS? Is there standard BREW API that gives access to MMS?

As far I know at this point there is no MMS support in BREW 2.1.
May be Qualcomm can tell us, if there will be any support of MMS in the future version.

You should be able to save images to the "shared/" folder, same as you would do for wallpapers, to make the image visable to the media manager on the 6000. However you will not be able to get access to images that come into the phone via MMS or images from the camera. In part this is for DRM.
This method may work for other media types but I am not sure.
There currently isn't a standard API that allows access to MMS. As far as I am aware there are no shipping phones with a public API for MMS. RocketMMS is not the client on the 6000. ;)

When saved in shared directory, only graphic files are visible from mms UI. mms applet only looks for certain extansions such as bmp, jpg etc. QCP or MID files are filtered out.
Anyway thanks for help!

MMS is nothing but multiple SMS packed together for larger packet size. In BREW there is no MMS support.
Sending image and message can be accomplished by using post data mechanism of IWEB. Do little search on IWEB post, this topic was beaten to death in many threads.

Actually the transport for MMS data is not SMS. SMS or WAP push can be used as the delivery notification mechanism but the MMS data is retrieved via HTTP.
EMS on the otherhand is an extension of SMS that provides chopping messages into multiple SMS chunks.
In any event Ruben is right, there is no MMS support.
If you app sits on both handsets you might use the M7 extension and BREW Directed SMS to initiate a connection to another handset to transfer data.
If the other handset is going to get the data via MMS then your best bet is to connect to a mail server and send the data through the carriers email -> MMS gateway.
Keep in mind that carriers want to charge users fof MMS, so depending on the app they will not carry it if it lets you send MMS like messages without going through MMS.

Please don't cross post. You already started a thread on this in the 2.1 forum and got good answers there. If you have further questions please ask them in the other thread.

Hello, new to BREW and trying to figure out what support or integration capability there is for EMS and/or MMS messaging?
Also, I'm having a hard time finding information out about putting out EMS and/or MMS content, and what is involved with that. If anyone knows some details or places to read up and gain some knowledge on providing EMS/MMS content to end-users that would be great.
Thanks!

Hey Folks,
I'm working on a project where I have to send an MMS from the BREW application. It looks like building the MMS client is not a "significant" amount of work but then getting Verizon to allow it to talk to a production MMSC etc is complicated and unlikely to happen.
I guess my question is, how have other folks on the froum send MMS from their BREW app or do most apps ask the user to exit the app and send the MMS through the native MMS inbox?
Thanks.
Raj

BREW doesn't have any MMS API, but you may be able to create a MMS application that sends data via multiple SMS or socket.

BREW doesn't support sending MMS messages. I don't think any phone's MMS client supports other apps using it to send messages. And I doubt any network will allow you to write an app which sends MMS messages through its MMSC.
So you're pretty much out of luck.

Rocket Mobile has one MMS implementaion for BREW.
Basically you have to write the MMS application.

Thanks for the reply.
That means BREW doesnt support MMS, right?
Is there any other way to do that ?

BREW natively doesn't support MMS. You have to have your own implementation or get third party MMS client. In addition the network needs to have MMSC.

Also in addition, the network will have to be ok with a downloadable app sending MMS messages to its MMSC. Before you even start working on a solution that uses MMS, check with the network to see if they'll allow it.
My guess is that they won't.

Is there REAL support for MMS in BREW?
I read about some MMS-related products developed for BREW, for example RocketMMS (http://brew.qualcomm.com/brew_bnry/pdf/press_kit/rocketmobile.pdf)
However, no mms related API are available. Is it supposed that all MMS-related protocols should still be implemented by developers who wants to support MMS? Is MMS support in BREW roadmap?

BREW does not have an API for sending MMS. You should probably find some other way to send your file.

Just stream the content up to your server and send it from there.

FYI; Winwap (winwap.com) offers SDK's for sending/receiving MMS on BREW and apparently a full MMS Client is soon available as well. They also provide libs for Email on BREW.

PS. I know this is an old thread, but maybe someone is still looking for MMS on BREW and finds this thread - and now also a solution for MMS on BREW. :)
