Hi,

We have an app that uses a server. We have a test version of the server and a production version of the server.

Obviously the two servers have different URL's etc.

how would we go about getting this app TBT'd. We would want the Testing to take place against the test server, and then have the app use the production server once its passed testing.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Adrian

No, you must use the production server because once your app passes NSTL, then the the software contained in the same zip file that you submitted to them will be picked by the carrier. In other words, whatever you want the end user to access on the deck, must be the same as what you originally submitted.

But look at it another way: How would you know it works with the production server if it's only tested against the test server? Even if you think the two servers are identical, you don't know for sure until you test.
Of course theoretically you could implement a redirect in the client, so the test server can forward clients to the production server based on a build number, adding build numbers to the server redirect list as they go live. I strongly recommend just testing on the production server though.

One way to do this is to use a different port for each
version of your app. THen use port forwarding....
