Hello Everybody,

Any idea what is the cause of this message "Safe Firmware Downloading..." ?

I got it when a new MOD (ARM, Thumb mode) was loaded on the Audiovox 8400, the phone restarted and we tried to launch the game. This message is displayed at the top of the phone screen against a grey background. And the phone is locked. That is, no key works. I am not able to even shut down the phone by holding down the END key. I had to pull the battery in the end. Another thing, there is no network for my 8400 here in India.

Any ideas why this happens ?

Regards,

Gautam

Just had this happen to my Audiovox 8400, It happened during a recieved call and suspend/resume event, unfortunaly, have not been able to reproduce.

It seems you somehow managed to end up in the flash loader of the phone. It may be a result of an application crash and some coincidental circumstances that caused the phone to jump to the flash loader entry location
Smartwell -- finally someone who gets the idea. :cool:

Dragon thats what I believe.
It seems to be happening (at least in my situation) when recieving a suspend event while saving data to a newly created file. But that's just my preliminary research.

Are you saying that you are receiving suspend event when you are in the middle of file write?

No. It just happens to be happening along side my file saving system.
I tracked the problem down. I appears this happened.
char *storeSong;
if (passSong) //char *passSong
{
storeSong = new char[length+1];

if (storeSong)
{
STRCPY(storeSong,passSong);

I forgot about setting storeSong = NULL, and things cascaded out of control, this isn't tied directly to suspend resume, it just happens to be linked in my code to a suspend event.
