Have run into problems installing Brew MP SDK rev 7.8.1. Installation loops endlessly
at third party software installer for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistribution package (x32).
Installation does not finish and needs to be aborted.
OS environment is Windows Vista
Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 is installed.
Am a newbie. Request help. Thanks.

Hello,
Two things you can try:
1. Run the SDK installation as administrator.
2. Install the MS VC++ 2008 package directly from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=9b2da534-3e0... afterwards, kick off the SDK install
Please let me know if either of these steps help.
Regards,
Brian

Hi,
You can also try selecting "no" when prompted for reboot. And reboot system after all remaining items have been installed and SDK installation has completed.

Karina

Hello,
Brian,
I tried the approach you suggested - installed the vc++ 2008 package
and then ran BMP sdk install as admin - Again, the third party software installation
loops mutliple times at the vc++ 2008 task , that I have to abort the process.
Every step in the loop it offers two choices - repair or uninstall..After finishing the
step, it brings up the same installer.
Karina,
There are no reboot options.
Would appreciate further help from you guys.
Thanks

Hi,
We were able to reproduce part of your issue which we've now only seen on Vista. The reboot option was during the .NET Framework 4 installation. When that was selected, the installation proceeded OK after that point.
I'll see if we can figure something else out for you.
Thanks,
Karina

Hello Karina,
Thanks for the registry key values...
I am assuming that we need just one of the versions installed in each case.
I tried installing different versions by repeating the install/uninstall a few times.
I was able to get some of the registry key values - ie.
for Visual 2008 C++ : key that is identical in both versions
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\D20352A90C039D93DBF6126ECE614057 Version 151025673
for Visual 2010 C++: could only install the 64 bit version because the key value was
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\VC\VCRedist\x86 Installed 1
and
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\VC\VCRedist\x86 Version v10.0.30319.01
for the NET framework, I got the same keys as you had sent.
Despite doing these installs as administrator, I ran into the same problem with the BMP sdk installation and had to abort the process.
I am not sure whether this is possible.. but can you send the link to the redistribution packages that have to installed? Perhaps the versions that I download are different from yours...
I do appreciate your help and hope to resolve this issue.
Thanks,

Hello,
I installed the redistributable packages for Visual C++ 2008 (both x86 and x64 versions), NET Framework and Visual Studio 2010.
The registry key values matched the ones below:
NET Framework 4.0 SP1
32 bit OS or 64 bit OS
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Client Install 1
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Client Version 4.0.30319
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistribution Package (x86)

64 bit OS
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\04583E7B553E3053FA7D36B5F2F2671E Version 151025673
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistribution Package (x86)
64 bit OS
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\VC\VCRedist\x86 Installed 1
and
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\VC\VCRedist\x86 Version v10.0.30319.01
After the above, I downloaded the latest revision, BMP_SDKMP_7.10.10_SETUP,
ran the setup and encountered the same problems...Setup gets stuck in the
Visual C++ 2008 (x32) redistribution package installation process and loops.
It brings up the same installation wizard dialog again and again, till I abort the
setup process..
This has been a frustrating experience...I do not think its the problem with Microsoft OS, which is VISTA on my PC...Do I have to be certified/registered Developer to access this software? Because some downloads are restricted and locked..
Please let me know how I can overcome this issue..I am interested in developing software for the mobile platform.
Thanks,

I am a little late jumping in here, I am concerned as we don't really test to VISTA.  Though, supporting Win 7, should mean Vista would work, but trying to do the SDK on Vista is a very smalll population of users, most of the Brew community is on XP or W7.

Downloading and installing SDK, plugins, etc. does not require any authentication.  All tools are openly available.  Only restricted software is certain Platform distributions called Platform Pro.  These are not required for issues cited in thread (related to environment and install).

I'm having the same problem installing Brew MP 7.10 SDK on a Dell T3500 running Windows XP Prof x64 Ed, SP2.
Required:  M/S Visual C++ 2008 Redistribution Package (x32)
[I have the latest version of Visual C++ installed, both x32 and x64; I installed them yesterday. I really don't want to have to install other versions of this (or other M/S products to fix this install. Nor do I want to mess with registry keys!]
Clicking 'No' aborts the Brew MP SDK install, so that's not an option.
Clicking 'Yes' loops endlessly, as reported above.

Is this an x64 problem??

Dear all,
I solved problem just selcted:
- remove Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistribution package from Brew MP install process.
