Resource Localization

The brewrmc.exe command line tool supports resource localization by exporting the contents of CAR files to Excel, CSV and .txt files, where the strings are translated to other languages. The translated contents can then be imported to generate the localized CAR files.

The following table covers command line usage for exporting string resources in a CAR file to an Excel, CSV or tab-delimited .txt file and importing contents from those files to create CAR files.
-export/-e/-exp Export one or multiple CAR file(s) as single .txt/CSV/Excel file.
-import/-imp Generate CAR file(s) from a .txt/CSV/Excel file corresponding to each language mentioned in the .txt/CSV/Excel file.
-outloc Specifies the path where the user wants the CAR or exported files to be generated.

Export examples

The following example exports the strings from two CAR files to a .txt file.

Brewrmc.exe -infile "C:\Test\res_EN.CAR" -infile "C:\Test\res_JP.CAR"
    -export -outfile "C:\Exported\strings.txt"

The following example exports the strings from two CAR files to a .xlsx file.

Brewrmc.exe -infile "C:\Test\res_EN.CAR" -infile "C:\Test\res_JP.CAR"
    -export -outfile "C:\Exported\strings.xlsx"

Import examples

The following example imports strings for all the languages present in strings.txt, and generates the CAR files for all languages in the specified output directory.

 Brewrmc.exe -infile "C:\Test\strings.txt" -import -outloc "C:\ImportedCARs"

The following example imports strings for all the languages present in strings.txt, generates the CAR files for all languages in the specified output directory, and builds the CAR files to generate BARs in the output directory.

 Brewrmc.exe -infile "C:\Test\strings.xlsx" -import -outloc "C:\ImportedCARs"
    -compile

Include directories can be specified the same way, relative paths are relative to the location of CAR files.
