Adding an applet to a module

Before the module can be used, you must add one or more applets to the module. When adding a new applet (or exported class, dependency, group or privilege), you can use Resource Manager to either create a new ClassID from the Brew MP website, create a local ClassID, or browse for files containing ClassIDs. When browsing for files containing ClassIDs, Resource Manager parses the .bid, .h or .idl for ClassIDs defined in the files.

To add an applet to a module

  1. In the Resource Manager window, click the Applets tab.

    The following fields are shown.

  2. Click to create a new applet.

The Add New Applet dialog opens.

Note: The interface creation mechanism used by the Brew MP AEE requires that each Brew MP class has a unique, 32-bit ClassID. This applies to the Brew MP system classes and all applet and non-applet classes you create. There are three methods you can use to generate a ClassID.

  3. Within the Applet Name field, type the name of the applet.
  4. To designate the ClassID, you can do one of the following.
    • Select Specify Class From File to browse to the location of a .bid, .h or .idl file.
    • Select Specify Class Locally to generate a local ClassID. When generating a local ClassID, Resource Manager provides the option to save the file as a .bid, .h or .idl file.
    • Select Generate .bid/h from Brew MP Web Site.

    Click OK.

After you have entered a ClassID, the applet appears as a hexadecimal number in the list of applets. If you add more ClassIDs to this MIF, they also appear in this list.

  5. From Resource Manager GUI, select File > Save As. From the Save as type drop-down list, click the type of file you want to save.
  6. Assign the MIF a filename (usually the same name as the application for which the MIF is being created), and click Save.
