Adding external dependencies

Use the following steps to add external dependencies.

To add external dependencies

  1. In the Resource Manager window, within the Module tab, select the Dependencies tab.

    The following fields are shown.

  2. To add a new dependency, click .

The Add New Dependencies dialog opens.

  3. Do one of the following:
    • Select Existing File, and browse to the location of the desired BID or header file. You can specify a header file containing a group of ClassIDs to use. If you do so, make sure the header file containing the group of ClassIDs is created ahead of time.
    • Select Existing Directory, and browse to the location of the desired folder
    • Select Recently Used (History). ClassIDs in the recently used files are displayed in the window.

To specify that a particular external ClassID is used by the current module, select the check box next to the ClassID, in the window of available files or folders, and click Add.

The Add New Dependencies dialog closes, and the ClassID moves to the list of used ClassIDs in the Dependencies panel.

Note: It is recommended that applications always specify the ClassID of the extension they depend on, even when using an unprotected extension. Specifying the ClassID is necessary to ensure that the module gets tracked and deleted properly.

Note: If the needed classes are missing, the device user will be unable to download your application, or the necessary classes will be downloaded automatically before your module is downloaded.
