Adding a new MIME type

Use the following steps to add a new MIME type.

To add a new MIME type

MIF and BAR files are read-only in Resource Manager. To add a new MIME type to a MIF or BAR file, save the file as CIF or CAR, then add the resource.

  1. If it is not already showing, select the Module tab, and select the Extensions tab in the Resource Manager GUI.
  2. Select the Exported MIME Types tab.

  3. In the Exported MIME Types panel, click .

    The Add New MIME Type dialog opens.

  4. In the MIME Type field, enter a description of a MIME type using up to 255 characters.
  5. In the Base class field, select a base class from the drop-down list.  

    Note: The available base classes are AEECLSID_APP, AEECLSID_BITMAP, AEECLSID_SCREEN_SAVER, AEECLSID_SOUNDPLAYER, and AEECLSID_VIEW.

  6. In the Handler Class drop-down list, select an exported ClassID or an applet ClassID.
  7. When you finish linking MIME types and handler ClassIDs, click OK.

    The Add New MIME Type dialog closes.

  8. When you finish entering information, click Save.
