Troubleshooting

Use the following table to help troubleshoot any Resource Manager messages you may encounter.

Message Cause Solution
An error occurred while trying to save the resource file ...

This error can occur if the Resource Manager was unable to open a CAR file, or if the Resource Manager could not save a resource file for one or more of the following reasons:

1) The file is read-only.

2) Not enough disk space is available to create the file.

3) There is a sharing problem or other file permission problems.

4) An unknown error occurred.

CAR open error:

1) If the CAR file is corrupt, re-create the file.

2) Make sure the file is not read-only.

3) Ensure that your PC has sufficient disk space.

4) Check the file's permission and sharing settings.

Save error:

1) Make sure the file is in a format recognized by the Resource Manager.

2) Check the file's permission and sharing settings.

For all other errors, please contact Brew® MP Developer Support.

Could not open the "..." file. Make sure it is not marked as Read-Only. The file could not be opened. If the file is read-only, remove that attribute so that it can be opened successfully.
No resources to build. The compiled resource file and header files will not be created. There are no resources to compile. To create a valid BAR (output) file, you must specify at least one resource in the resource file.
The control ID in which you wish to set initial focus is not valid for this dialog. Please choose a control ID that exists within this dialog box. You are attempting to set initial focus to a control in a dialog that does not exist in that dialog. Make sure that the specified control ID is shown in the Dialog Controls list.

For example, a bitmap file should have a .bmp extension.

The image you have selected is 80 pixels wide, 80 pixels tall, and has 8 bits/pixel. Typically, image resources are less than 150 pixels wide, 150 pixels tall, and have 1 bit(s)/pixel. This warning describes the details of the selected image and identifies the dimensions of a typical image resource. If an image size is larger that the screen size on the phone, the image is clipped. Change the size of the selected image or select another image that is within the size restriction.
