This section covers troubleshooting issues for the Visual Studio Plugins.

Package load failure in Visual Studio

The package load failure may appear when multiple SDKs are installed on your machine, and you switch between versions while Visual Studio is still open. To avoid this, close all instances of Visual Studio before installing/uninstalling the Visual Studio plugin, or run the Make Current option from the Brew MP SDK Manager.

If a package load failure does occur, then do the following:

  1. In the Package Load Failure dialog, select Yes, which will skip loading the Brew MP Visual Studio Plugin in the future.
  2. You will then need to follow the steps below to load the plugin in Visual Studio.

Displaying the Visual Studio Plugin toolbar

Once you have installed the Visual Studio Plugin, you should see the Brew MP Plugin toolbar displaying within the IDE. If you do not see the toolbar, do the following:

  1. Check that the toolbar is enabled by clicking View > Toolbars within Visual Studio.

A list of the toolbars installed in Visual Studio will display.

  2. If Brew Mobile Platform is in the list, select it.

The toolbar should appear within the Visual Studio IDE.

  3. If Brew Mobile Platform is not in the list, then a package load failure may have occurred. If this is the case, a message in the Output window of Visual Studio will contain a message that the Brew MP Plugin was unable to load because of previous errors.
  4. To reload the Plugin, close all instances of Visual Studio, and uninstall the Visual Studio Plugin.
  5. Once you have uninstalled the Plugin, open a command prompt, and navigate to the directory of your Visual Studio installation. The default location is .
  6. In the command prompt, type the following: devenv /resetskippkgs

Once the command has finished running, Visual Studio will open.

  7. Close Visual Studio and reinstall the Plugin.
  8. If the toolbar is still not visible, type the following in the command prompt: devenv /setup.
