Using the Plugin Toolbar

Once you have installed the Brew MP Plugin, the Brew MP toolbar is available when you start Visual Studio.

Enabling the Plugin toolbar

You can enable the Plugin toolbar within Visual Studio by selecting View > Toolbars > Brew MP. You can also enable the toolbar within Visual Studio by doing the following.

  1. Select Tools > Customize, and in the Customize dialog select the Toolbars tab.
  2. Select the check box for Brew MP.
  3. Click Close.

The Plugin toolbar will be visible on the Visual Studio toolbar.

Disabling the Plugin toolbar

You can disable the Plugin toolbar within Visual Studio by selecting View > Toolbars > Brew MP. You can also disable the toolbar within Visual Studio by doing the following.

  1. Select Tools > Customize, and in the Customize dialog select the Toolbars tab.
  2. De-select the check box for Brew MP.
  3. Click OK.

    The toolbar is removed from the Visual Studio toolbar.

Brew MP Properties icon

The Brew MP Properties icon launches a dialog to edit Brew MP build, package and run properties.

Run, debug and build icons

The Run icon launches the active application on the Brew MP Simulator or on a physical target, based on the selections in the drop-down menus. If Simulation is selected from the Plugin toolbar drop-down menu, the application will run on the Simulator. If Physical is selected, the application will run on a physical target, as long as you have a device connected to your PC.

The Debug icon launches the active application for debugging on the Brew MP Simulator or a device. If Simulation is selected from the Plugin toolbar drop-down menu, the application will debug on the Simulator. If Physical is selected, the application will debug on device, as long as you have a device connected to your PC.

The Build icon builds the active application in Visual Studio. If Simulation is selected from the Plugin toolbar drop-down menu, the application DLL/DLL1 will run be generated to run on the Simulator. If Physical is selected, the application MOD/MOD1 will be generated to run on device.

Launch Brew MP Tools

The Brew MP Plugin toolbar includes an icon with a drop-down menu to open the Brew MP Tools.

Integrated menu items

In Visual Studio, select View > Open Brew MP Tool, or Help > Brew MP Help .

In addition to the toolbar options, the Visual Studio Plugin overrides the build, clean and rebuild application options in the Visual Studio Build drop-down menu.

Add or remove buttons

The drop-down arrow on the far right of the Brew MP Plugin toolbar provides the option to add or remove toolbar icons, or customize the toolbar.

  • Selecting Add or Remove Buttons > Brew MP provides checkboxes to select or deselect Brew MP Plugin toolbar icons.
  • Selecting Add or Remove Buttons > Customize allows you to customize the Visual Studio toolbar.
