Brew MP directory structure

For a Brew MP device, the module directory name must be the same as the MIF name. If a SIG file is needed, it should be provided inside the same directory as the MOD file. The SIG file is the device-specific test signature file provided by the device manufacturer. The SIG file contains a digital test signature allowing an application to run on a specific device.

A typical Brew MP device has the following Brew MP directory locations:

  • Brew MP MIF directory "fs:/mif" : This directory is for backwards-compatibility with legacy BREW applications.
  • Brew MP MOD directory "fs:/mod" : This directory is for backwards-compatibility with legacy BREW applications.
  • Brew MP shared directory "fs:/shared" : This directory is for shared files.
  • Brew MP system directory "fs:/sys" : This directory is for system modules such as those that make up Brew MP itself.
  • Brew MP User MODs "fs:/usermods : This directory is for user-installed modules that aren't managed by a download system. This directory may not exist by default on some platforms, and is created when modules are installed to that collection for the first time.
  • MMC card directory "fs:/card0/brew" :This directory is for applications installed/copied from MMCs.

The folder is generally the location used for loading applications to the device to test.
