Connecting to a device or target

Note: Target(s) refers to either a Brew MP device or a Brew MP simulation target.

When you start the Loader, the Connection Manager appears in front of the main window.

A red dot icon in the status bar at the bottom of the window indicates that the target is not connected to the Loader.

To connect to a target

  1. Select the connection type from the drop-down menu.
  2. Then select the target from the second drop-down menu.
  3. Click OK.

    The status bar at the bottom of the main window indicates a connection by showing a green dot icon and the Connect/Disconnect icon on the toolbar is selected.

    The Loader retrieves the directory and file information from the target's EFS with directories listed first, then files, and shows the target root folders in the left pane as shown below.

  4. The target directory view can be refreshed by selecting the refresh device icon in the Loader GUI toolbar.

Developer Mode enable

If a valid signature file is not in the device directory, the device will need to be Developer Mode enabled. A Developer Mode dialog will appear when you are connecting to the device using Connection Manager, as shown in the following image.

To Developer Mode enable your device:

  1. Select Signature File to load a valid signature file to the device.
    • Note:The Developer Enable Service is no longer available via the Brew MP Account option. Use a Signature File instead.
  2. Signature File: next to the Location field, click Browse to navigate to the location of the device signature file on your computer
  3. Once you have made your selections, click Connect to Developer Mode enable and connect to the device.
