Configuring a message log

Use the following steps to configure message log options.

  1. From the Logger main window, select Tools > Options. The Logging Options dialog appears.

  2. Click the General tab and make entries in the following fields as necessary: In this field Make this entry Output logs to file Next to Output logs to file, you can specify a file destination for the log. Type a directory path in the box or click Browse to find the file where you want to send the log. Write file in ASCII text format Select this check box if you want the log saved in ASCII format. Limit file size (KB) Under File rollover options, select this check box and specify a size if you want to limit the size of the file to which the logs are being saved. Limit record time (minutes) Under File rollover options, select this check box and specify a number of minutes if you want to limit the recording time of the log. Activate log output display on log start Under Display, select this check box to output logs to a display window.
  3. Click the Filtering tab. The Logging Options dialog changes to show the filtering options.

  4. Make entries in the following fields as necessary: In this field Description Log the following ILogger buckets (binary data) Under ILogger Filtering, select this check box if you are using ILogger to capture binary log data to a file and want to filter the data into separate buckets to be viewed.

    Note: When you select a bucket, the Check, Uncheck, and Select All buttons become active.

    Bucket Log check boxes Select one or more buckets and check or uncheck them, depending on how you want to separate and view the binary data. Log debug output messages (dbgprintf) Under Debug Output Filtering, select this check box if you want to view application debug messages.
  5. When finished making entries in the Logging Options dialog, click OK. Your logging options are saved and the dialog closes.
