Installing applications to the target

To run Brew MP applications on the Simulator, applications need to be added to the target device file system. This is done in the same manner as it is for an actual device, using the Brew MP Loader.

Targets are run in a virtual machine. Each target has its own fs:/ directory on your PC, independent of other targets. The required application files to run on Simulator are the application DLL and MIF, and the BAR file if the application requires it.

To install applications to the target

  1. Open the Simulator GUI.
  2. Open Brew MP Loader. This can be done from the Brew MP SDK Manager, or selecting start > Programs > Qualcomm > Brew MP SDK > Tools > Loader.
  3. The Loader GUI opens with the Connection Manager dialog. Within the dialog, select Brew MP Targets from the connection type drop-down menu, and select Simulator from the port drop-down menu.

Loader connects to the Simulator target file system.

  4. Within the Loader GUI, select the file system you want to load the application to, typically fs:/usermods.
  5. From the Loader menu, select File > Install Module, to install an application package to the target.

    The Install Module dialog opens.

  6. In the Install Module dialog, select Browse to navigate to the folder containing the application brewmp file. Specify the installation location on device, and from the Collection drop-down menu, select UserMods, which is the location used for user-installed modules not managed by a download system.
  7. Click OK.

The application files are loaded to the target file system, placed in a folder under fs:/usermods with the folder name based on the name of the .brewmp file. You should then be able to select the application in AppManager.

Loader can be used to create new directories, and load and manage individual files in the target file system. You can also drag and drop application files from your PC to the Loader GUI to load the applications files to the target. For more information on using Loader, select Help > Loader Help from the Loader GUI to open the Loader Help document.
