Running Interrogator

The interrogation process is separated into two steps. The first step is the interrogation of target details. The second is interrogation of ClassID information. Target details are queried automatically upon launch of Interrogator. Interrogation of ClassIDs is initiated manually.

To start the Interrogator do one of the following:

  • Right-click the running target in Target Manager, and select Interrogate.

Interrogator launches and interrogates for target details.

  • Launch Interrogator from the SDK Manager, and select a running target from the Target drop-down menu of the Interrogator GUI.

The target details are displayed in the Target Information view of the Interrogator GUI.

The Interrogator GUI

The Interrogator GUI contains a menu bar, a Target drop-down menu and three views, Target Information View, MIME Types View and Classes View.

From the menu bar, you can do the following:

  • File > Save As saves the data as XML.
  • File > Exit closes the Interrogator.
  • Action > Compare compares two platforms.
  • Action > Show Differences Only shows only differences between platforms being compared.
  • Action > Advanced Interrogation to indicate whether classes can be instantiated without the Shell environment.
  • Help > Interrogator Help displays the Interrogator Help document.

If you have multiple targets running or devices connected, those targets will be listed in the Target drop-down menu. You can use the drop-down menu to select running targets to interrogate.
