Example: Creating a C++ or C based Connect application

This section provides a high-level overview of how to create a C or C++ based Connect application. For more detailed information on creating Brew MP applications in Visual Studio, see the Brew MP Application Development Primer on the Brew MP website.

Create project

  1. Start Visual Studio. Visual Studio 2008 is used in this example.
  2. Create a new project in Visual Studio by selecting in File > New > Project. Any C/C++ project type can be used. This example uses a Win32 Console Application.
  3. Under Visual C++, select Win32.
  4. Select Win32 Console Application.
  5. Enter the name and location of the application to compile to.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Finish.

Change project settings to use Connect

  1. Right-click on your project and select Properties.
  2. Change the Configuration drop-down option to All Configurations.
  3. Select C/C++, under C/C++ select General, and add the following include path:


  4. Under Linker, select General. Add an Additional Library Directory of $(BREWMP_TOOLSET)\bin\Connect\lib to your project:

  5. Under Linker, select Input. Add an Additional Dependency of ConnectCore.lib to the project.

  6. Click OK to close the property pages.

Author code, compile and run

  1. Write some basic code using the Connect library.
  2. Compile and run the Connect application.
