Tools available to access the Brew MP file system

The Brew MP file system on a device can be accessed using the following tools:

  • Loader - is a GUI and Command-Line Interface (CLI) tool that can be used to copy files to a device, delete files or directories, or create directories. For more information see the Tools Reference.
  • Connect Tool - ConnectTool, or CT, is a command line tool that allows users to interact with the device, copy files, start applications, etc. For more information see the Tools Reference.
  • Qualcomm Product Support Tools (QPST) - is a set of Windows tools for accessing devices.
  • EFS Explorer - a QPST tool that provides access to the file system.
  • Qualcomm Extensible Diagnostic Monitor (QXDM) - provides data collection and diagnostic tools for devices.

Brew MP provides the following protocols for communicating with a device:

  • DIAG Protocol

This is the protocol over which QPST tools, including EFS Explorer, and QXDM connect to the device. This is also one of the connection methods supported by Loader. File system access over this protocol is governed by Serial Port Access Restrictions (SPAR) rules, regardless of which tool is connecting.

  • BTIL

This is a Brew tool specific protocol and requires the BTIL client to be on the device. It is one of the connection methods supported by Loader. File system access over this protocol is governed by ACLs.

  • USB Gateway

This is the preferred connection method for connecting Brew MP tools to Brew MP devices. USB Gateway can only be used on Brew MP devices that are Gateway enabled. File System access over this protocol is governed by Access Control Lists (ACLs), wherein privileges are determined by the privileges established during Developer Mode Enablement.

For more information, refer to the Tools Reference and the Connect Technology Guide.
