BREW MP SDK

The Brew MP SDK rev 7.12.5 supports multiple versions of the platform. This allows users to compile against one version, then run the compiled application on the same or different runtime versions of Brew MP with a single toolset.

The SDK enables development of Brew MP applications and extensions.

See the appropriate procedure below to set up your desired development environment. 

Installation and Set Up

In addition to downloading the SDK you'll need to set up your environment. See development environments below for setup instructions:

Setup for C/C++ Environment – Visual Studio

Procedure for Brew MP C/C++ development environment with one or more versions of Microsoft Visual Studio on Microsoft Windows XP 32 bit, Windows 7 32 bit or Windows 7 64 bit:

Prerequisites:

Installation Procedure - Window Administrator privileges are required. For best results, follow the steps in the order specified:

  1. Download & install Sourcery G++ Lite Edition. This includes a CodeSourcery ARM compiler and GNU tools to help build and debug applications. 
  2. Download & install Brew MP SDK.
  3. Launch the SDK Manager tool.  

    Note: Access this tool in the Brew MP SDK by selecting: Start > Programs > Qualcomm > Brew MP SDK > SDK Manager.

  4. Install Brew MP SDK Visual Studio Plugin through the SDK Manager tool (on Setup tab, click the Visual Studio Plugin Install link located within the current toolset).
  5. The Brew MP SDK includes the latest Brew MP Platform. Should you require additional platforms, they may be downloaded from this page (upper left section).

Setup for C/C++ Environment – Eclipse

Procedure for Brew MP C/C++ development environment with the Eclipse IDE on Microsoft Windows XP 32 bit, Windows 7 32 bit or Windows 7 64 bit:

Prerequisites:

Installation Procedure - Windows Administrator privileges are required. For best results, follow the steps in the order specified:

  1. Download & install Sourcery CodeBench for Brew MP.

    Note 1: During installation, be sure to choose "Add Path" option.

    Note 2: After installation, in PATH environment variable, make sure CodeSourcery is set ahead of other GNU tools in the System Path.

    Note 3: Remember your installation directory for the Brew MP SDK Eclipse Plugin installation. 

  2. Download and install Brew MP SDK if you haven't done so already.
  3. Launch the SDK Manager tool.
  4. Note 1: Access this tool in the Brew MP SDK by selecting: Start > Programs > Qualcomm > Brew MP SDK > SDK Manager.

  5. Close Eclipse if it is open.
  6. Install the Brew MP SDK Eclipse Plugin: Select the SDK Manager's Setup tab, and click on the Eclipse Plugin Install link located within the Active Toolset's Optional Components list. Follow the prompts to install the Eclipse Plugin files into the folder.
  7. The Brew MP SDK includes the latest Brew MP Platform. Should you require additional platforms they may be downloaded from this page (upper left section).

Setup for C/C++ Environment – Command-line (No IDE)

Procedure for a free, minimal Brew MP C/C++ development environment strictly from the command-line with no IDE on Microsoft Windows XP 32 bit, Windows 7 32 bit or Windows 7 64 bit:

Prerequisites:

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (or newer).
  • Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX (or newer). Only required if using the Brew MP Simulator during development. Important: download and install the Adobe Flash Player using Internet Explorer browser for ActiveX version.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2008 (or newer). This is only required for the C/C++ compiler that comes with this free Express version.

    Note: Visual Studio Express versions do not support the Brew MP Visual Studio Plugin.
