The BREW(R) Font Extension (BFE) 2.1.8 maintenance release features a light-weight TrueType font (ttf) renderer, dynamic extensions support, improved const module support and discontinues the support for static extensions. The BFE 2.1.8 release encapsulates a port of Monotype's WorldType Layout Engine and iType font renderer with optimized support for complex bidirectional text layout. A bold and non-bold TrueType font (QCSans) is included which can be used freely; use of the BREW Font Extension with any other font must be licensed through Monotype Imaging (www.monotypeimaging.com/contact/form_di.aspx). This combined extension enables CMX and QAudioFX features to be emulated through the BREW SDK. The CMX Player supports CMX versions 2.0 through 4.4, including playback of SVG embedded within CMX 4.4 files. QAudioFX enables 3D positioning of sound and other advanced game audio effects.

* All of the functionality of the former CMX Player 3.0.3 is fully contained within the QAudioFX extension.

* The CMX Player supports CMX versions 2.0 through 4.4 and is compatible with BREW SDK 2.1 and later.

* QAudioFX version 1.1, including 3D positioning, reverb, and doppler, is supported with BREW SDK 3.1.5 and later.

Description: 

The BREW SDK Tools are a set of utilities that previous to BREW SDK 3.0.3 were included in the BREW SDK package. The SDK Tools provide essential functionality to the BREW SDK for developing BREW applications.

The BREW SDK Tools includes the following utilities:

  • BREW Resource Editor
    The Resource Editor allows you to create dialogs, strings, binaries, and objects used in BREW applications.
  • BREW MIF Editor
    The MIF Editor generates Module Information Files (MIFs) which contain module-specific and applet-specific information required to load the application.
  • BCI Authoring Tool
    The BCI Authoring Tool enables you to combine and compress one or more small graphic images into a BREW Compressed Image (BCI) file.
  • BREW Visual Studio Add-ins
    BREW applications can be easily developed using the Microsoft Visual Studio environment with this Add-in, which includes a BREW Application Wizard and toolbar. The toolbar contains options to generate a makefile based on ARM or GCC compilers, options to execute the BREW Simulator, MIF Editor, Resource Editor, and BREW Integrated Help for Visual Studio.

The BREW SDK Tools are now packaged separately from the SDK, and are not dependent on a version of BREW. You should always use the most recent available release of these tools. Please see the "Release Notes" for more detail.

The BREW Debugger is a debug monitor solution designed to enable on-target debugging of dynamic BREW applications on a BREW device without any special hardware. It supports debugging of applications compiled with the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) or one of the ARM RealView Compilers. It supports the GNU Debugger (GDB) and the ARM Extended Debugger (AXD) as front-ends.

The BREW Debugger requires BREW 3.1.3 or later releases of the BREW SDK .
